Love is…

Sometimes you know when people love you. You can just tell. I had one of those moments. Love is… when your mom transcribes physics problems into an email for you. when Denise scans the graph for you. when your dad offers to drive twenty minutes to get your book. when your stepmother lets you not [...]

A Haiku For Mommy, in all her Sanity

I think Mommy took yesterday’s post differently than it was meant. Denise is like Buffy: when she leaves the Hell-mouth goes crazy active, by no fault of Willow’s or Xander’s or Angel’s. It just happens. So here’s a haiku: No tampons are thrown No pea soup, no spinning heads Everything is sane.

A Haiku For Denise in California

I wrote this poem because I realized that, however ept Mommy may be, Denise tempers our insanity to seem less insane, if that makes any sense. So, here’s a haiku: When Denise is gone The world is much crazier. We need sanity!

Why Procrastination Doesn’t Work

I was going to write a story. It was a really good premise. I remember being so excited to write it! But every time I got online to write it, I decided “I’ll do it tomorrow” and then commenced to whine about physics. So, I had decided: “Tonight, tonight I’m going to write it for [...]

Friday

I love Fridays. Don’t get me wrong. I do. But in the old days, Friday meant a day that lead into two days of relaxing with maybe some light homework. When did things get so different? When did I start making lengthy to-do lists in my mind? When did I start neglecting to blog until [...]

This Is Wrong

Let me explain something. My school is huge. Around 4000 total students in all. We are diverse. We are varied. We are a community where there is something for everyone, at least a few people who care about what you do, believe in what you do. Everyone has a passion, and everyone has someone with [...]

Autumn

The air is cooling and crisp. Soon the leaves will turn and fall. Despite the onset of winter, I can’t help the fact that my heart lifts at the smell of autumn: falling leaves and loam and the glorious death of summer in every sunset. Autumn lifts my heart even as everything around it begins [...]

Loss

People always say what grief looks like: tear-stained faces, dark circled eyes, empty stares. But I guess I’m not “people”. Because today, staying home from school, I tasted it, smelled it, heard it. Losing Miles tasted like tears 23 cups of tea skim milk lemonade brought in pity egg drop soup wolfed down in hunger [...]

In Memory of Miles

Miles is dead. My cat is dead. I keep walking places, doing things, normal things, but I only can think “he’s not here. He won’t be by the door when I come home, or in the cat tree.” Miles was an amazing cat, the sort of cat that people wish for, while their own cats [...]
