Who Wants to Help me reach my Academic goal?
My history teacher has assigned us a project in which we first have to ask ten people what their favorite invention is and why. It can be anything: toilet paper, popcorn, books, whatever. Anything you think is important. PLEASE, comment with favorite inventions and a few words why you think it’s important.
Examples: Eric-the-invisible-vampire, “My favorite invention is the refrigerator because it keeps my Trueblood from spoiling.”
Nonexamples:
Xena-the-potentially-a-zombie-grey-cat, “Brains…”

My favorite invention is the birth control pill! It gave women around the world nearly full possession of their reproductive rights and ushered in the feminist movement. The Pill will be a twee 50 years old next year, and I think we should throw it a big birthday party with handmade crowns and gobs and gobs of cake. Musical accompaniment to this comment should include “The Pill” by Loretta Lynn who had six children, four of them by the time she was 17.

There are so many great inventions, but I think my favorite would have to be the camera! The camera has allowed us to explore the concepts of art, storytelling and documentation in a new way, especially as technology continues to expand what a camera can really uncover.

The printing press – technically the early precursor to what’s making it possible for me to type this to you right now.
First runner up is the camera. I’m with Caryn on that one. My life is pretty much words and pictures so yay for being able to share both far and wide.

My favorite invention is the automobile. It allows my commute to work to be five minutes long instead of thirty to forty minutes by horse or an hour and a half plus walking.
It allows me to visit family members in different states, travel to new places and yes, here in NH, it even allows us to watch movies from the comfort of our own car at the Drive-In.
I like it better than a train, bus or plane because I can control who is along for the ride, how fast I go and where I go.

My favourite invention, right at the moment, is the flush toilet. Glad to not have to go outside to the bathroom and glad that I don’t have to empty and clean chamber pots. My house is enough of a sty as it is.

I went to a renaissance fair yesterday. It REALLY made me appriciate flush toilets. Port-a-potties are disgusting!
