Vampire Vocab

Temporary Tattoos, Beach Boys, and Strange Dancing

Last night, I went to a Beach Boys concert at Ravinia, which was followed by a seriously weird dream. But let’s start at the beginning.

I was fully immersed in my book (One More Bite by Jennifer Rardin) while my father chatted away about what special activities my mom had planned for that evening. Therefore, I had no time to prepare for my impending doom. I spent my afternoon reading, scootering, and apologizing to Constantine because Vayl might just replace him as my favorite Vampire. (This process, the replacing, that is, is very emotional. I always feel the need to reassure my imaginary vampires that we can still be friends.)

We were all loaded up in Sockmouth’s (that’s Denise’s Mother) car and we progressed to Tony’s Subs, where I squealed with glee when I saw the temporary tattoo machines. After begging a dollar in quarters off Denise and Sockmouth, I got two sparkly tattoos. One was a glittery purple panda bear with stars around it, which reminded me of my new Build a Bear. The other was this really pretty and artistic looking butterfly, which I’m going to put on my hip, in honor of Anne, because she’s sick.

Anyway, we got to Ravinia, where I ate my faux-muffaletta sub (I say faux because it’s really just an Italian with some of Tony’s delicious olive salad on it.), a bag of Fritos, and a can of Coke. Then I taped an episode of Vampire Vocab and other Strange Things, within which, I interviewed a statue of a fat lady. It was great. For the rest of the time before the show, I read, of course. I read until it got dark and Denise confiscated my book.

During the entire concert, I heard two songs that I knew. I really am culturally illiterate, as Denise says. My Mother, persistant and brave woman that she is, attempted to entice me to dance for the entire time. Eventually she suceeded, as she always does.

As much as I hate to admit it, and I know I will never hear the end of this, I actually had fun.

    A lesson learned.

I will admit to having enjoyed, errr sort of, a synchro meet or two. Or at least a moment or two of various synchro meets when I didn’t expect to.

I’m glad you had fun and you got a great fat lady statue interview out of it. :-)
